I have been experiencing what may seem like a burnout over the past week at the gym – probably because my last 12 weeks leading up to my fitness challenge was really intense and I pushed my body to do things it hasn’t done in years! Granted I got results and continued to see developments in my body and that was what kept me going and I may have ignored some signs leading up to this fatigue. Today I went to the gym to do upper body and I just wasn’t as into it as I normally am, and it got me in a bad mood. To top it off one of the trainers at the gym came up to me and told me to work harder, that I was getting lazy – the nerve! This is one of the reasons my biggest pet peeves are people chit chatting to each other too much at the gym, and think it’s perfectly ok to come and interrupt your session while you are either focusing on doing a perfect dead lift or pushing heavier at the bench press. I wish people would respect each other privacy more and realize there are people who are really serious about their work outs and not interested in gossiping and ‘spending time’ there. Get a life!
I’ve also been having some issues with my shoulder. It may be somewhat inflamed as I’ve been doing a lot of shoulder and bicep training, perhaps working on my chest a bit too much instead of leveling it out with spending equal amounts of time on my back. Regardless, there is nothing I hate more than leaving the gym feeling that I just did my work out half ass, and that is what happened today. As a result, I went home and went for another 5 mile run after doing 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym. Take THAT, you damn shoulder! But … tomorrow is another day – lower body and it’s time to show some love to the hamstrings and the glutes. I also need to get into the training schedule for the half marathon that my trainer gave me. I get really competitive and know I will need to step up the running bit in order to get a good time on April 25th! Much to look forward to and tomorrow I’m going to show everyone at the gym what a hard work out looks like! Look out, y’all!!
